This package is perfect when working through short-term issues or learning to breastfeed for the first time. This allows for a comprehensive time for evaluation/teaching and planning, and a follow-up visit to ensure that both mom and baby are doing well and can continue forward on their journey. Included in each visit is a weight check or weighted feeding and time to answer your questions and concerns.
With this package, you will gain confidence before delivery by having individualized instruction and developing your feeding plan and goals. Ideally, you will be seen in your home within 96 hours of birth for your first assessment and hands-on breastfeeding "lesson". A follow-up within the first 2 weeks will allow for early interventions regarding latch, weight gain or milk supply as needed and pump instruction.
Sometimes, feeding issues are identified later and need time to resolve. This may include topics related to oral dysfunction, tongue tie/frenectomy, protein sensitivities, lactose overload, low/high milk supply, bottle feeding issues.... This package allows for adequate time to learn and work through a plan of care so that you and your baby can have the best positive experience.
This package allows families to take advantage of the full range of expertise that an IBCLC provides. We encourage you to consider this option if you are planning to breastfeed for longer than 6 months. The visits may be used to address lactation issues or may be used for teaching/evalations of feed. Here are examples of the types of visits you might choose.
